Reviews for Woolshed Cafe

Wow, great setting and decor, staff are friendly and informative. Food was great, service was fast. Was great to finally go somewhere that serves a burger you can actually pickup and eat whilst still being fantastically tasty! Go the lamb burger. Really like the outdoor area as well as the old wool presses converted to bar leaners. I’d buy one!
I will definitely stop in here whenever traveling North.

What happened to this place ??
Went there a few months ago and the food was fantastic.
Went there today with my partner and we ordered the exact same thing we ordered last time – it was complete rubbish.
She had the eggs benedict, the eggs were poached so long the yolks were hard, I had the lamb burger which was dry and tasted like a value pack pattie you buy from the supermarket, it was served with about 8 tiny chips that tasted like they were with a fish and chip shop, oh also the bun was stone cold.
Wont be going here again and I advise others to go further up the road and find somewhere elseComment from frances h. of Woolshed Cafe 8/02/2014

Not many places need to microwave a shepards pie twice to warm it through, then to top if other halfs fish pie then came out cold, last time I use the place.
Can’t think of any good things to say apart from the surroundings were nice, didn’t go for the views though.Comment from frances h. of Woolshed Cafe 8/02/2014

Stopped in on our way to Wellington and had a lovely meal – Caesar Salad full of goodies, fresh greens and egg nicely soft poached. The Earl Grey came in a huge pot and was piping hot to the last cup. And you’ve got to try their beer battered chips – generous, hot, hand cut, crisp and light served with yummy aioli and tomato sauce. Great service and ambience. Oh and the loos are clean and fresh. We’ll be stopping there again.

Wow! We love this place, It ticks all the boxes for us. Great food – I had the crumbed fish, chips and a side of salads which I was amazingly good, followed by one of their divine homemade slices. Hubby had a real lamb burger on ciabatta bun with gouda cheese – beautiful, and declared his coffee excellent. I’m a hot chocolate snob and this was 10/10 even if it did come in a mug rather than a cup which I prefer.
The tables are roomy enough to spread the newspaper out on, there’s indoor and outdoor seating places. We had a delightful spot in the sun outdoors…and I much appreciated the good selection of magazines available to browse through.
The staff were attentive, friendly and overall this cafe was a great place and we’ll be back.
(Just a little tip though – maybe look at altering your website to keep in sync with your amazing cafe – it doesn’t do it justice. Perhaps something more upbeat, with more details about your great food, photos of the interior maybe? You’ve got a great place – tell the world!!)

Great place to stop with kids. The food was excellent and good variety. The kids loved the space and especially the animals outside. Will make this a regular stop when travelling.

Family gathering of 24 people arranged last minute and held at cafe. Owners very helpful in setting up a special alcove for our large group.
Cafe surroundings very pleasant- brand new building but has authentic woolshed atmosphere.Loved the recycled wooden floors. Lots of space outside for children to play. Meals enjoyed by all – especially the fish and chips!Service for the group fast and without fuss. Excellent coffee. Will definately be back.

Loved it, best new stop when travelling. Really really good coffee, and the slices were delicious. Toilets (very important feature when on the road) were top-notch. Looks like the owners have put a lot of thought into the whole operation. Beats the other places around the area by a country mile.

New cafe on the block caught my eye on the way up SH1… took a chance, stopped in and three generations were pleased we did! All important stats: coffee – great & to specifications, service – fast and friendly, food – delicious & tastily presented – especially recommend the chicken lasagne and plum and almond slice. Purpose built with loads of space and absence of earsplitting muzak to compete with conversation. Everything fresh and clean. Now we’ve discovered the Woolshed, it’s definitely on our map for a return visit.
