Lovely evening meal. Very tasty, great service and no problem to have a gluten free meal.

We were ushered in on a busy night and kindly accommodated as long as we could leave prior to the next booking arriving. Fair enough. Staff were friendly but clearly very busy. The menu/magazine was lovely to look at and there was a wide variety to choose from, but they were unable to accommodate specific dietary requirements very easily, as one member of our party had specific dietry requirements. Overall, a little disappointed as the reviews I had read online had prepare for a much more impressive dining experience.

My wife & I took advantage of the early bird special. She had the salmon which was very good, whilst I opted for the fillet steak. It was cooked to my liking. We ate on two successive nights and the meals were very consistent. Service was courteous & helpful. At the price they were very good value.

Was drawn in by the $10 lunch menu. My parter had the bangers and mash which was enormous and great value for $10. I ordered the chicken and duck pate from the main menu and was impressed.
Tasty meals nicely served in a pleasant environment. Only shame was that the outside tables were all taken as it would have been nice to look at the lake.

Had Breakfast here recently. Not the best breakfast we have had but acceptable and cooked pretty well just a bit on the small side for the price. Really like the fact that the serve quality loose Leaf Tea. You can really taste the difference and it is appreciated! The service was friendly and efficient so that pushed it up from 2 stars to 3.

I have been dining out 20 – 30 times a year for 25 years and I think this would be the worst experience I have ever had. It is about 2 years since I have been to Tatler which Was a great restruants then, but this time it was just terrible. For someone that lives in the region where there are some great restruants avoid Tatler, there are a lot better. The food was bland and the service was terrible. We didn’t even get told the specials. In fact we left and went elsewhere for desert.

Sheltered from a downpour here – we were welcomed with smiles and seated at a window table where we amused ourselves watching everyone run for cover. Within a few minutes they were turning people away so we were lucky to get our table.
Not being too ravenous we shared the chicken liver parfait – it was so divine we could have happily had one each. Definitely going back for that again.
Mains were also great – grilled beef fillet and salmon, the right size on their own although we did also order a bowl of fries because you have to have fries with beef fillet and bearnaise, it’s a rule I read somewhere.
Washed this down with a bottle of the Wild Earth pinot noir – not the cheapest wine on their list but just perfect for the occasion.
No room for desserts but the choices looked tempting – going back for them too.

As a local I had heard mixed reviews about Tatler but decided to give it ago. I visited this restaurant for lunch with a group of friends. A few ordered the vegetarian lasagna which had dried out layers of pasta with no sauce so they were dissappointed and I ordered the mussels which were cold with a luke warm sauce. After complaining about them they bought out a fresh bowl of steaming mussels. The service was average, after taking our lunch and drink orders the waiter did not come back for ages to see if we needed anything. I had some friends who dined their that same day and were also very unhappy with the food! Will not be returning fast!

I don’t mind paying for good food and good service, but my experience of Tatler was very average food and the worst service experience I have had in an NZ restaurant.
Two friends and I dined there on a Thursday night in January, the restaurant was possibly 1/3 full. Towards the end of our shared entree while I was still eating, our main arrived and were literally dumped on the table and the waiter walked off without a word. We waited a few moments (stunned) and then called someone across to see what was going on. The reply was that they thought we had finished our entree. I questioned whether it should be standard to clear the entree before delivering the main but there was no reply forthcoming apart from the repeat that they thought we had finished. We waited a few more minutes expecting that someone would come back and remove the entree dishes and bring main cutlery but no one came near us, so I cleared the table myself and we once again called someone over for cutlery. There was no apology or explanation. At $180 for one bottle of wine (approx $45), one entree and three mains I would have expected better standards. I visit Queenstown frequently and will never eat at Tatler or recommend it. There are far superior choices.

Had dinner here with a group of friends and were thrilled to be seated upstairs in the private dining room. We enjoyed drinks on our own balcony first and this suited the smokers between courses too. We didn’t have the fire lit but I reckon it would be worth coming back in winter for a dinner party with the fire and everything.
Service was great, especially considering we were a group of 15. Food was really tasty and everyone was happy with their choice. Not cheap, but such great ambience and an all round good experience.
