moving into this area last year and seeing a indian restaurant in the area was a great view, Me and my partner went to Shahi dawat to have takeaways. this was the best decision we had ever made, the butter chicken was the best i had ever had and the naan breads were all up to standard (not burnt)
as you walk in the friendly kitchen staff guide you where to place your order, and being able to stand there and watch the chefs cook the food with an open kitchen was brilliant, not many restaurants have this ! the staff is all very friendly and service very quick! WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK !

we have been 3 times, to be honest I only went to back to see if its any better but wont be going back again. it isnt nice indian food at all. you can go elsewhere and its way better. dont have any main reasons but just when you have been to other restaurants you will know what I mean,sorry

My partner and I ate at Shahi Dawat a couple of nights ago and I must say that the this was the best indian food I have EVER tried! We ordered Butter Chicken and Lamb Rogan Josh and they were both fantastic! My favourite was the Butter Chicken with naan =)

We will DEF be back!

Having just moved to the Peninsula, and being very fond of Indian food, I was looking forward to trying Shahi Dawat. Unfortunately it was the worst butter chicken I’ve tried (and I’ve tried many). It was somewhat creamy but lacked any tomato flavour (which should be rich). Given that Butter Chicken is a staple indian dish, it has put me off trying any other dishes so I wont be back.

The food is great, service is excellent. couldn’t ask for better. very friendly staff ,
the price for te atatu is very reasonable because you pay for a curry and you get free rice with each dish when you takeaway. i give them A +++++++

Great food, the quality and taste is superb. Only complaint would be it’s pretty expensive for Te Atatu. I think they get away with this by being the only Indian Takeaway on the Peninsula, plus their food really is great. Had a slightly burnt naan here and there, but generally pretty solid. Especially the curries (in particular the Lamb jalfrezi). Order from these guys when I can afford it. A+++

The food is delicious and the staff are really friendly. Dine in and Takeaway, both superb!!!

The Prices are really reasonable and our whole family enjoy eating there often.

I really recommend it as a dinner venue in Te Atatu Peninsula.

It was a first time experience. Being an Indian I was not happy with the food. The rice in Biryani was not basmati, instead jasmine rice. Also, the biryani was tasteless, the only taste present was that of chilli powder. there was no distint flavour of biryani masala or any other soice/condiments. The rice that accompanied the gravy was also jasmine rice.

Food is just OUTSTANDING. I’ve eaten curries all over the world and these are some of the best I’ve tasted.

Bit pricey for West Auckland though – Happy to pay for quality I guess

I have had the pleasure of dinning in and ordering out with Shahi Dawat for the last couple of years.

The service is impeccable, friendly and prompt.

I would highly recommend Shahi Dawat to anyone who wants a first class taste of what real indian food should be!!

We dined at Shahi Dawat this evening with our very young family and had a thoroughly good time. The service was first rate and the food delicious and very good value. Will definitely be going back again.

I ordered takeaways recently from Shahi Dawat. The service was prompt and helpful over the phone.

The food was ready in 10 mins. It arrived fresh, hot and of good quality. Would have no problem returning.
