After moving from South Africa I went to several restaurants in the area and when Rob Roys opened in Richmond I went to see what they have to offer. Since then I could not control myself to not eat there at least 3 times a week. From brekkie to lunch and dinner, the whole range is superb and the value for money is excellent. A friendly atmosphere and happy faces always welcomed me. For those who wanna try real fresh food go and see what they have to offer, you would not be disappointed. Take time out and relax after all we only live once on this planet. Thank you “Guys” for always being on top of your game.

Good wholesome food, generous servings, very reasonable prices. Have enjoyed Rob Roy’s fare many times both in Christchurch and in Richmond and look forward to visiting them again when next in the area.

Many thanks Aaron & team for your generosity & a lovely meal on Friday!
After I posted my review here explaining a really disappointing experience we had at Rob Roys recently (largely caused by a staff member who has now left), Aaron contacted me with a sincere apology & offered to treat us like royalty if we tried them again.
The staff were all so nice to us & the meal was excellent.. quite possibly the best steak I have ever had.
Our little boys loved the food & the great play area & are very keen to go again

Couldnt wait to get back to Rob Roys over Easter. I havent found pancakes as good as Aaron’s anywhere in New Zealand and miss them terribly. It is an awesome pub and Aaron and Kirsteen couldn’t make you feel more welcome. Definitely the best value meals in Richmond (probably even the greater Nelson area) and we never miss an opportunity to dine there. Just a shame its such a long commute for us……..still we will be up there for a week over xmas and no doubt get at least 1 or 2 (prob more) meals in then. Mmmmmmmmmm mouth still watering at the thought of the food………..

We dined at RR for the first time on 26 Feb 2012 and were greatly impressed; the food, speed of service, staff, decor and atmosphere were all excellent. They have a kiddies’ playroom and we can’t wait to return with our grandaughter. We heard RR had teething poblems which had been sorted so decided to see for ourselves. We weren’t disappointed and will be dining there regularly. Thumbs up RR, and welcome to Richmond!

Having eaten at Rob Roy’s in Christchurch and enjoyed the meal, I was keen to try them again in Richmond.
I was not disappointed. The dining room was nearly full so I expected that I would wait my turn.
The service was very good and the meal was fantastic.
Well done Rob Roy’s! I’ll be back at Easter.

This was our third visit to Rob Roys and we will not be going back again. I’m sorry to say three strikes and you are out Rob Roys.
The service is appalling and the staff need training in Customer Service big time. We first went there in their first week and wrote the service off as teething issues. We went again a month later and still gave them the benefit of the doubt as being a fairly new establishment. When our mains hadn’t materialised in close to an hour I went to find out why and was given every excuse under the sun. First I was told one thing by a staff member then another by the duty manager. All of it amounted to the fact that it was busy and they seems to think that an hour was an acceptable wait for two main meals. We only ordered Garlic Bread and a Main. The Manager kept telling me that they are not a fast food outlet. Correct – but you are not even a slow food outlet! I have travelled all over the world and had better and quicker service in third world countries. As we were departing I ran into a friend who had also had to wait an hour for a chicken salad! As someone who works in a Customer Service industry I can’t imagine ever arguing with a Customer like the manager did with me. Guess what… it is not my fault you are understaffed and so badly organised that you cannot get two meals on a table in under an hour. Hire some more people and get your systems working. I will be advising all my friends to stay away and suggest alternative places to dine.
