I visited O’Ryans for a Sunday lunch with my partner. I ordered an open steak sandwich and she ordered the fish of the day, we also ordered a garlic bread. Our orders came out incredibly quickly, this is where to good points end. The garlic bread was tiny (2 slices of a loaf, obviously buttered with garlic butter). The steak was warm and chewy, it was so chewy that it felt like eating gum. The fact that it was not piping hot, after coming out within 10 minutes suggests that it was precooked, and/or reheated from the night before. Worse, the chips that came with the meal were ¾ cooked – eatable but not crispy at all. My partner’s fish was overcooked and her chips suffered the same fate as mine. At a price of almost $60 (with drinks) this was a disgrace. Save yourself the pain and try one of the significantly better quality Manukau eateries.

okay … it was before Xmas last year there were 2 diners in the place… and omg it took forever to get our meals .. i was close to making a complaint but we liked the waitress so much and you think that if you make a complaint the chef might do something awful to your food, so we waited and waited and waited and waited … then it finally came and i ordered a lamb shank and because of the wait, i expected a falling of the bone shank, instead it was semi tough, and absolutely drowned in the bloody gravy which totally killed the mash, which is my favourite part of a meal especially dining out, okay and to top it of the baby carrots seemed as if they were frozen in the middle then thawed out then reused … bad bad experience

This was disastrous from the moment we entered to when we left. Bar staff were not the friendliest, it was a quiet night, and yet it took a long time for staff behind the bar to even acknowledge and serve. Waiting for a drink felt like you were waiting for a main meal. Thought it would get better, but once we were seated for dinner, it immediately went downhill. There was hair in my chicken korma curry, a surprise I did not want! The staff were not even apologetic about it. I then chose another dish, which only proved to be an even more disappointment. Another friend ordered a grilled sandwich, doesn’t get any more basic, and they even managed to stuff that up, the bread was rock hard. Overall, we were unimpressed, and never going there again. This place has a complex menu (Irish & Indian), and not even close to delivering the bare minimum, talk about being unrealistically ambitious!
