Jacks has the best coffee in town (as well as Grace on Braid) and their vegetarian muffins…great on a sunny day like yesterday we sat in the sun, drank great lattes and hot chocolates and ate the gorgeous muffins…love Jacks

USED to love going here…but the mochas that I’d have rated one of the best in the Tron gradually deteriorated, as they changed from one new barista to another, and the mochas kept getting worse and worse! To top it off, the staff became less and less hospitable, they can’t take constructive and politely delivered criticism!

Jack’s has the best coffee ever! I often sneak out durin the lunch hours at school for the coffee.. Smooth and aromatic, never fails to satisfy me
Their desserts are also tasty, but real emphasis on the coffee. Convenient parking too

I have stopped in and got my morning coffee fix on my way to work for almost a year at Jacks (oh how I wish you opened Monday/Tuesday!)

The service is always so fast and friendly! Someone is always at the till ready to serve you with a smile.

The barista does the best coffee in Hamilton (Grace is a close second). The food is always delicious and is reasonably priced. As long as they keep doing what they are doing now, I will return.

I’ve made a point of stopping at Jack’s every time I go through Hamilton, recommending it to friends and taking visitors for their great food. Arriving at 2.15pm, on Thursday with my mouth set for Pate, it was less than impressive to be cheerfully informed that lunch was finished and Pate was not an option. I can’t get lunch at 2.15? ! Fair enough if you don’t want to do eggs bene because chef’s gone home but please guys, serving pate is pretty straight forward and sending people away hungry doesn’t make friends.

We feel bummed out about this review. It’s not about bad food, it’s not about bad coffee, nor is it about bad service. The kitchen has alwasy closed at 2pm on Wed, thursday and Friday and 2.30pm on the weekends. We always feel stink when people come in after these times and want to order from the menu, but you just have to make a decision when to close the kitchen and to stand by it, otherwise other customers will see food coming out of the kitchen and wonder why they were not allowed to order, thus creating confusion and bad vibes. We hope this sheds some light onto this matter. Regards from the Jacks Crew.

Jacks and Graces are consistently good. In all the years since they opened we have eaten at both often and have never had a meal or a co fee that was anything less than perfect. Jacks has the best Batista ever!!!

I have worked in the coffee industry for years in NZ and abroad as a barista trainer and Head coffee roaster. Today, I had one of the worst coffees I have ever had, I watched in disgust at the lazy techniques used in making it. Coffee is not about speed but the ability to make an individual perfect cup every time. Short cuts were used, reheating of old milk, used trim instead of regular milk, steam wand not cleaned and covered in old milk, and milk not kept in the fridge which is a huge hygiene issue as milk after all is a dairy product and bacteria breeds extremely fast at room temp.When I told the lady at front of shop that I would be reviewing the coffees and asked in hindsight would there be anything she would do different, she said she wouldn’t have used trim, so she knew what she was doing was wrong in the first place. As a coffee drinker I want to see cafe’s always pushing themselves to improve, not be happy with the status quo. Purely as a coffee review, Jacks was very very disappointing and would never recommend it.

The chefs are always happy to alter the menu to suit my needs and the barista is a gem.

BEST HOT CHOCOLATES IN NZ!!

Hands down. It was so good I had to order another even though it was a warm day. Deliciously smooth, creamy chocolate taste.

Food was also fantastic, atmosphere was welcoming, great with children. Personalised service.

Need more places like you.

Jack’s is the best cafe in Hamilton hands down. It also does the best eggs bene in NZ! The coffee is fantastic. The service is great. They really get to know the regulars. The decor is eclectic and refreshing.I live in Auckland now but make sure I go to Jacks when I’m down!

I went here for my Father-in-Laws birthday, one of his favourite places and I can see why. It was full on a weekday for lunch even though a little off the beaten track.
