We ordered Lamb Korma, Saag Paneer, rice and Naan.
The menu speaks of the Korma having “a unique nutty flavor” which unfortunately it did….of rancid nuts.
The Saag Paneer doesn’t even rate a mention.
The rice was dry…like it had been cooked for hours and was sitting under heat lamps.
The Garlic Naan was OK.
Last night I had takeout from Curry Zone in Titirangi, Akl and I’d suggest the owners of Indian Aroma visit this business to see what curry should taste like.
Recommendation: Don’t waste your money!!

This is the better of 2 Indian restaurants in Whangarei however neither of them are all that good. I asked for my curry to be cooked with breast meat rather than thigh meat and they said no. I don’t know why they insist in cooking with thigh meat in New Zealand Curry houses. The UK has some of the best Indian restaurants in the world and they can manage to cook a tasty breast meat curry without it being to dry. I refuse to eat here because of this. Also every dish tastes the same. My personal fave Indian dish is Dopiaza which is supposed to be an onion based curry however when it came out I could have counted the onions in 1 hand. Their Madras is mild!?!?
My 15 year old son can cook a better curry. Not authentic either, but then again everyone here seems to think curry starts and stops at Butter Chicken. I suppose they can get away with it as people in Whangarei have nothing decent to compare it to.

The food here is very nice the best butter chicken in Whangarei only. However the takeaway containers have gotten smaller, you use to get more for takeaway than dine in. Its pretty pricey for a small dish. The service is excellent though you get greeted when you walk in your cup always gets topped up and asked if everything is ok. I guess its like paying for your service.

A warm atmosphere and much better Indian food than I have sampled elsewhere in Whangarei. Reasonably well presented, yummy nann (particularly the garlic and cheese one!) and our curry was very tasty. Watching the number of people coming in to pick up their takeaways also implied that we were not alone in enjoying the food!

Love this place, food is always great.
This is the best Indian food you will get north of the Wishing Well in Orewa!
A must try and great to take the children.
