This is the best Indian food I have had since brick lane in London. Possibly better than there as well. The service is good and the decor is artwork. I have been for lunch as well and the $10 deal is the best value lunch in Hamilton.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The food was enjoyable, the service was EXTREMELY slow. I don’t mind waiting half an hour after having had my order taken from me, or a little longer if the place was packed, but there were only three couples in the restaurant. People were being turned away, we arrived just after 6.30pm I think the bar person and chef were one?! In fact we chose the wrong day to make our reservations, as I placed my order of “butter chicken” I was given an apology as some of the ingredients on their menu had not arrived yet, so I’m not sure what that’s about??? But in saying that, the guy was friendly and helpful when he was on the floor. Was just frustrating when he wasn’t around for us to order our liquor.

Four of us went there and tried four dishes. Absolutely beautiful food. Staff were very friendly and helpful in suggestions. The restaurant is stunning and clean. Our best dish was Qorma with chicken and rice, not forgetting the naan bread. Well done staff at Hindustan, we will be back

This place used to be a regular for work friends and I. Unfortunately the last couple of times I have been the service and quality of food have dropped dramatically for the worse.
Today we went with a group of 15, and had pre-booked. There was only one wait staff on for the whole restaurant. I went up after 15 mins of waiting to see if someone could take our order – the lady answered a call while in the middle of talking to me which I found very rude. Meals came at different times, they did not know who had ordered what, meals did not reflect hotness ordered and were very thin on meat – mainly just sauce. Some were cold by the time others even got theirs or their rice/naan. Very disappointing as the service and food used to be great. Will be looking for another place to go next time.

Sadly Sat 25th June was not the best dining experience we’ve had. Arrived just after 6. It took over 30 mins for someone to take our order an another 1 hour for our entree to arrive. Not great considering we were dining with kids! The restaurant was very quiet with an inexperienced waitress. When we eventually got our drinks my husband was asked if he’d like ice with his beer! My Rogan Josh (supposedly medium) was like gravy. We’ve had a few great curries over the years (mainly in the UK). I’m not sure what was going on last night (new owners i believe?) but it was appalling. Two couples were turned away at 7pm due to the long wait time and the restaurant wasn’t even 1/4 full. Guys you seriously need to get a grip otherwise you won’t survive!!

I have eaten at Hindustan many times and the food is always excellent. Its a pity more people do not know about this place, as it has been quite empty the times we have been there.

This used to be our first choice for Indian food, but not after the last two outings here. The service and the quality of the meals has deteriorated to the point where we have decided that we need to find a new place to eat. Such a pity.

This is one of the most sophisticated Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Normally this translates to bland menu and watered down cooking, but this is not the case at Hindustan. I am a very adventurous eater, and I was pleasantly surprised by a few items on the menu. Needless to say, the more popular dishes are very nicely done as well. The prices reflect the decor and service of the restaurant, so I wouldn’t come to this place for a quick meal. However, for a upscale dining experience, I would pick this place over the typically overpriced a la carte restaurants in Hamilton any day.

Three of us went to this restaurant on a Sunday evening. There were another 3-4 parties of people there. The surroundings are very pleasant. We were seated immediately. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was great. Plates had been warmed and that is a bit of a thing with me. About the only thing that I could say of a negative nature is that we possibly could have done with more rice. Having said that, I am sure that had we asked for some more, it would have been promptly delivered. We will go there again. Very good value for money. Si.

I’m always on the lookout for good Indian restaurants, and was excited to try Hindustan when they opened last year.
From the very first mouthful I was impressed. Very tasty food, and great variety too.
I’ve only ever had takeaway – but I have been back a few times now, and I am always happy with the service, and the great food.

Must try!!! Love this place, food was really good, staff was friendly and food arrived really quick. The place looks a bit upper market with those fancy decors but the price is not. They have $9.90 lunch deal which come with curry, rice and naan bread. Indian Aroma used to be my favorite but now it’s Hindustan. I’m pretty sure they offer discount to staff from certain business such as HCC so it’s worthwhile asking.

A MUST! I was recommended by a work colleague. Outstanding professional service, great atmosphere and excellent food. Food, what can I say? WOW!the aromas, good portions, beautiful flavors and excellent prices. The atmosphere is incredible, imported furniture from India. The staff, definitely exceed customers expectations! I could tell you more, but you should try it for yourself to find out.
I highly recommend Hindustan, I wish I discovered it sooner. It is worth the extra drive if it is not in your neighborhood. Trust me and try it! I know I will definitely be back…

Great place, absolutely everything is perfect.
The atmosphere is wonderful, the food delicious and the service is understated and delightful. I have nothing else to say about this restaurant – definitely one of the best in Hamilton and yet not at all expensive.

My partner and I were in town on Friday the 12th March. Thought should go and check out this NEW INDIAN restaurant in Garden Place, but unfortunately they were booked out for that night. So, we had to go eat at some other place. Before we left, the waiter still somehow convinced us to book a table for Sat the 13th, as we told him that our friends are coming for this weekend.***(I will personally advice my readers to make a booking to ensure your table).
Saturday’s evening was one of the most memorable evening for me and my friends. This place is like a KING’S PALACE, Never seen anything like this before in New Zealand. Everything displayed in the restaurant looked tastefully imported from INDIA. Starting from the entrance doors to the BUDDHA water feature; Use of Marble, Copper, Wood and Brass can be seen throughout the place. A Place not to be missed.
All the staff looked well presented, good to see a team of professional waiting staff. After our friends arrived we were then escorted to our table from the lounge area. Garden view from our table was just another addition to make our night. We asked our waiter to give us recommendations and he started our evening with Indian beer’s and Onion Bhaji’s followed by a Sizzling Platter with a selection of Veg-Meat for all of us. He ordered us all different main dishes, so we can try more than one. Everybody on the table loved their meal. I loved my Dill Infused SALMON curry accompanied by my favorite bottle of church road Chardonnay. But still our waiter was coming with some tempting dessert specials.
Hindustan! thank you so much for your Royal Indian Hospitality. We will definitely come back and spread the good word for you. HAMILTON CITY was waiting for a real INDIAN AUTHENTIC restaurant for long time. All the best.
