We booked a table of 13 people for Mothers Day today. When we arrived, there was quite a que at the counter ordering meals so I asked another waitress where our table would be but was told quite rudely I would have to line up. After lining up for quite a while, we found that other people were seated at our table. They managed to clear another table outside for us. We proceeded inside to order our meals and were told there would be a 30 – 40 minute wait for meals from the kitchen. When I asked the question “How many chicken tenders are in a meal” – to decide if my children could share one – the waitress said “How would I know”. We all ordered meals, some from the kitchen and some from the cabinet. Our drinks came out in dribs and drabs over a 30 minute period except for my 3 childrens milkshakes. After 45 minutes waiting, I asked only to be told they were coming but no apology. Also the people who ordered from the cabinets had their meals brought out so were well and truely finished by the time everyone else got theirs. Our meals came out after 1 hour 20 minutes. There was no apology. Nobody ever came to our table to see if we wanted water or any other drinks. There were a lot of staff working and although it was busy – it wasn’t that bad. The food was very nice but this is the worst service we have ever had. We will not be back and certainly won’t be recommending it to any of our friends.

Went there today with a small group of ladies.
The service was shocking and not to mention the lack of selection of food. after being told there were no hot chips today about 20Min’s later the waiter walked past with a bowl for another table.was not impressed.
our food arrived with the people who ordered last being served first ,the salmon bagels were cold and had to be sent back, the whip cream put on a hot plate which was then no good and to top it all off the service and attitude of the employees was rude and unprofessional. definitely wont be back.

Two of us went to Garden Cafe on 18/2/12 at 10am for breakfast. We were not greeted, and we saw no signs indicating where or how to order. We saw a table with a server who was taking their order, so we sat down and waited for service. We were the only other table seated. It was not busy. Although three employees were working, one behind the counter, and one in the gift shop who had nothing to do, and the waitress, none spoke to us. After 10 minutes of being patient without contact, I went to the counter. That employee was refilling coffee beans. This employee said you must order at the counter, that the other table received special treatment because of the number in their party. We were ignored by the staff who were not busy helping other customers. We were left to sit there indefinitely without so much as a, “Hello.” Feeling that we couldn’t enjoy a meal after this experience, we went to the Robert Harris in Northlands where we were greeted with smiles, and enjoyed excellent courteous service.

As good as it gets to be honest. Underground coffee is fabulous anyway.. but the barista at the Garden Cafe knows how to make the wee beans shine! Our meals from the menu were out in about 15 minutes, great during a busy time. We had a seafood chowder,.. to which I score this a billion out of 10, and also an Angus beef burger with fries, this was a little less that a billion out of 10 but still a hearty 9 out of 10! Meal sizes were bigger than the money spent. It was a good airy atmosphere. They must be doing something right,… next time the eggs benedict is for me it looked absolutely amazing!

Been a couple of times. Most importantly nice coffee. Good friendly service and the food I have tried has been pleasant. Lovely Caesar salad. Nice shop and plenty of space. Would definitely recommend and suggest it will only get better as the spare space is utilised.

Went there today with my mum and 18 month old son. The coffee and food were great.
My only complaint would be that the toy box for the kids is right next to the shop with all of it’s beautiful (and breakable) gifts. The shop is part of the cafe so no walls or door between it and a curious little boy…
We have been waiting for another cafe to open on this side of town, and I would probably go there alot if I could relax a bit more and not worry about my son breaking anything. :)
