A great place to relax on hot summer days in the enclosed private garden bar, The Fireman’s Arms boasts walls adorned with memorabilia and photos. This family friendly bar and café offers an extensive value-for-money menu. Providing children’s menu, snacks, mains, pizzas plus full-on weekend brunches. The Firemans Arms also provides a good selection of tap or bottled beer, spirits and wines. The big screen shows all the major games alongside promotions that ensure somebody goes home with a prize. The Fireman’s Arms has a fantastic atmosphere that provides classic jukebox sounds alongside indoor and outdoor pool tables, gaming machines, and minigolf. The space is orientated towards families, with a large range of toys to keep children entertained. The Fireman’s Arms also has a function room for about 30-35 people (seated). Open everyday from 10 o’clock, head out to the Fireman’s Arms at Petone, a great place to bring the kids.

by Murray 13th May 2012: Went there with family for lunch orderd the seafood platter which was extremely small looked like kids size $17.00. rest of my family had good sized nice meals which was good, not bagging the firemans arms i am a regular just felt gutted about the portion size compared to the price. however i highly recomend firemans arms to others, great family run place great staff good relaxing environment.
by Foodie M. 16th January 2011: Lovely atmosphere, nicely decorated, staff are friendly and welcoming. Love the outside area, kids love the lilliput and monarch butterflies.

Have been back a few times with our family of 6 for ‘brunch’. Hubby and kids love to get the steak and pork. In the past have found the chicken delicious but last 2 visits have found the chicken breast is no longer a ‘real chicken breast’ and now resembles the processed chicken meat found at a deli in a supermarket.
Very disappointed – please go back to original chicken breast of past! The prices, service and atmosphere is lovely, have NEVER been charged a public holiday surcharge – FANTASTIC – especially for a family of 6. Sadly wont be returning anytime soon for the chicken…

will keep an eye out for a menu change though

It’s nice on a summers day, if you want a reasonable place for lunch with a couple of mates it’s ok.
by pineapple 3rd December 2009: Meh. Very very clubroom-like. OK if you like that kinda thing I guess.

Pizza was ok, not great, not awful. a lot of dried herbs used.
Main course was horrible. bland chicken breast with a couple slices of cheese and a (I am assuming) store-bought satay sauce globbed on top, with cardboardy fries and a limp salad.

Service was friendly enough.

Friendly service, great food, great prices and speedy.
I have eaten here more times than I can count and it is always a safe option when you are choosing a place to eat.

The BEST PIZZA ever in the Hutt for the price, with big thick toppings.. you choose whatever you want on them; I always need my ‘Large’ put in a doggie bag!
If we want to dine-out for pizza or just for a good pub meal, we always go there.

We took Hubby’s Dad from UK (dont worry, he’s used to the pub meals!).He selected his own pizza & loved atmosphere and history there!

Plenty of room, easy, flat access and on a good sunny day, there’s option to sit outside with picnic tables. Just go to the non-smoking area out there..
Great friendly staff at the bar and always very happy & accommodating.
by Nichole Williams 4th November 2008: I recommend Firemans Arms in Petone. I had Celebrated a very special occasion there for myself and a huge crowd of family and friends. They catered to our every needs eg Alcohol, food & our very own Hostess who I may add made us feel very relaxed & comfortable and kept the food, drinks coming when needed and did an excellent job in doing so. The entertainment supplied had been done so through my Family (H27) with no hesitation from Firemans Arms which was awesome. Before my Function had started I was aware Firemans Arms was a Family Restaurant & Bar and took note of how the atmosphere was and found it to be enjoyable and with no collisions when my Du started. Firemans Arms was a great place for my function and All who had attended All said it will always be a memorable time and I have to say it be because of Firemans Arms in Petone.
