Absolutely awesome, calm and inviting, eclectic yet modern, the food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Total experience – great for a romantic night out

fabulous food, waitresss offered alternative wine. Could manage an improvment in chairs..a wee bit wobbly and that was before a drink! Still a great evening meal

I have to say, given the other reviews here, I was expecting more.
That said, the food was very nice. My steak was more medium than rare (I asked for rare), but OK. I was surprised to see silver beet on the plate. Not my favourite vege, and certainly not what one would expect in a restaurant…
Desert was lovely – Apple and boysenberry crumble. The crumble itself was a little dry, but tasty.
The service was great! I called in without a booking, to find a young-ish waitress looking concerned that there was no room for me. Another woman, who I guess was the owner, suggested a move or two, and a table was had. There after the level of attentiveness was just right.
You’d never say the place has much in the way of ambiance, but it still quite OK. Background music not too loud and no nasty decor. BUT… hey could do with upgrading the cutlery.
Yes, I’d go back, but not if planning to take others out for a “nice” meal.

I can’t believe that little old Invercargill could have such a fantastic restaurant. Went there for my birthday dinner and was truelly blown away at how first class it was. From the friendly service (not too intrusive but just right) to the food – amazing!! Everywhere I go I have creme brulee for desert and this by far beats any I have ever tasted. Will definitely be recommending this to everyone I know.

Saw some good reviews of this restaurant so gave it a try for lunch. The lunch menu was extremely well priced and the servings were substantial. The staff were interested in our feedback and concerned that we enjoyed our meals, which we did.

Three friends and I dined there for lunch and a good catch up. Our meals were tasty, good portion size and everybody had an enjoyable time.
Thanks, will always recomend.

Have only managed to get here for lunch so far but it was a nice lunch. Quick to come out and great portion size for the busy ‘lunch time ladies’. Priced at $15 you can’t go wrong although the night prices are a lot higher. Recommend for a lovely lunch spot.

Great service, food tasted fine but we found Duo to be over priced for what it is compared to other places in town that do an equally good job. The place lacks atomosphere we felt and not great for larger parties of people. We usually like small menus but this was just a bit limiting.

What a treat. The handbag and I fell upon this little Gem one Friday evening and have revisited twice, just to make sure that it could be consistent… I have not been disappointed. The decor is lovely, mellow and relaxing. The lighting near perfect (able to read the menus without a torch, but not interrogation level)and interesting to note that the lighting was dimmed by the staff during our stay to maintain the ambiance, not something most restaurants bother with!! The background music interesting with the sound level set just right so that you were not privy to the table next doors conversation, and did not have to yell at your dining companion. Then there is the menu. I LOVE small menus, and there is still something for everyone. Ordered an entree (soup and the squid) and main (salmon and pork). The food was simply wonderful. It was fresh, well prepared, seasoned extremely well, and just sublime. Wine list extensive enough to please all. The service from the greeting to the last farewell was friendly, unpretentious, attentive but not invasive. WELL DONE!!

I have discovered the best kept secret in NZ, it is so good it shouldn’t be a secret and I want you to know about it. Duo is so good I dined there 3 out of 4 nights. The key is the total experience from chic interior design, the professional yet friendly front of house staff to the delicious and expertly cooked local food; Duo is the place to go.
From what I understand Duo has been trading for about 4 months but the talented owners know their stuff, they have been in the hospitality industry all of their lives and they are true professionals!
Try Duo I bet you won’t be disappointed and I bet you will go back for more.

In all my 37 years, I do not believe I have ever had such an enjoyable dining experience as I did at Duo. It all starts as you enter; the friendly atmosphere, the delightful decor, the ambiance. What an experience. The food is locally sourced, exquisitely presented and oh so tasty! Something to really write home about. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. Simply superb.
