This is the best cafe in christchurch and you know it before you even walk in. On the door they say no bikers.

Absolutely awesome – we revisited one of our favourite local cafes only a few days after the earthquake. There they were open and serving fantastic coffee, fresh food and lots of love up to everyone who walks in the door. The weekend breakfast menu is good quality cafe food – eggs and trimmings all round (the mushrooms were fab), fresh breads, pancakes for the kids – just what the doctor ordered. This place is an oasis, treat yourself.

The atmosphere is good, staff friendly, however, I consider they have a very poor selection of gluten free foods. And I was told the cous cous salad is gluten free, which it isn’t unless it is special GF cous cous. Usually there is only 1 GF option – always a variation of a roast vegie salad.

We feel lucky that our office is handy to this cafe as they have great food, great prices and great staff. We even go there in the weekends for brunch as we know we wont be disappointed. Very highly recommended!

Went to Castle Rock Cafe for the first time today and was not disappointed! We had our two kids with us and I must say the staff looked after them really well and made sure they had stuff to do, kids menu was just as interesting as the adults menu which was also refreshing to see. The food we had was fantastic – a great range of colour, texture, and flavours and great consistency, portion size and price as well!! Atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and decor interesting to look around at while the food was coming. Overall I would recommend this cafe to anyone who is looking for friendly prompt service, well thought out and prepared food, and a warm relaxed atmosphere.

I’ve been to this cafe now at least four times and each time have been delighted with the food, the excellent service and the child-friendly atmosphere. Toys for the children, colouring in pictures and pencils and the food is well priced.
A hidden gem!

This place is fantastic, staff who love what they do and have thought of everything. A great wee spot to enjoy breakfast or lunch away from the hustle and crazy prices on the high street. I say no more- check it out!! they even have sunglasses to borrow on sunny days
